Despite the fact that more women are graduating college, joining the workforce and their earning power is at an all time high, the majority of women do not feel financially secure.
A new study done by Allianz Life called The Allianz Women, Money and Power Study identifies some major differences about men and women in their attitudes towards money. Only a small percentage of women wanted a man to take care of them but most women wanted more security in their financial positions, decisions and investments.

Women and shopping. The image we all grew up with was one of a woman going from store to store, arms loaded with boxes and shopping bags.
But the sterotype of women as compulsive shoppers is not an accurate one according to a study to be published by Stanford University Medical Center. According to their study, the rates of compulsive and binge buying are nearly the same for men and women.
Men and women with compulsive buying disorder get irrestible urges to buy unnecessary items and go on shopping binges, accumulating large debts which create financial hardship. The results can lead to broken relationships, bankruptcy and even suicide attempts.

Congress has approved legislation allowing prescription drugs purchased in Canada to be brought into the US by US citizens, as long as they have only a 90 day supply.
The new legislation only applies to drugs obtained by actually traveling to Canada. Internet ordering of prescription drugs and mail order drugs from Canada would still be illegal.
Prescription drug prices in Canada are controlled by the government and many sell for up to 80% less than in the US.

It is generally admitted that women have to try harder to succeed in the modern world of business. Although much has changed over the years, women still have some way to go before they achieve complete equality in the workplace.
Donna L. Brooks and Lynn M. Brooks have written a book entitled Seven Secrets of Successful Women that gives some ideas of how we might move on up that corporate ladder. What I particularly like about it is that it is for all women, not just the stars of business. Amazon’s review has this to say:
This book is not written just for superstars, but for every woman who wants a satisfying career, balance in her life, recognition and reward for her contributions, and some assurance that she can survive in today’s unsettled corporate or professional environment. It’s a guide for aspiring women at any level-from entry level right on up to CEO.
Seven Secrets of Successful Women answers the most critical questions for today’s working woman:
* Is there really a distinct success profile? Yes.
* Do women have to adopt the traditional male model of leadership? No.
* Has the profile of successful women changed in recent years? Yes, more so than ever.
Does one have to be a superstar and driven in order to be successful? Emphatically no. Anyone can apply the skills and strategies outlined in this book.
