Shop Till You Drop
Women and shopping. The image we all grew up with was one of a woman going from store to store, arms loaded with boxes and shopping bags.

But the sterotype of women as compulsive shoppers is not an accurate one according to a study to be published by Stanford University Medical Center. According to their study, the rates of compulsive and binge buying are nearly the same for men and women.
Men and women with compulsive buying disorder get irrestible urges to buy unnecessary items and go on shopping binges, accumulating large debts which create financial hardship. The results can lead to broken relationships, bankruptcy and even suicide attempts.
Men,women have similar rates of compulsive buying

Impulse shopping is a problem for both, I think though that media and books always blames everything on one or the other, it might be because of the “Shoes and Clothes” stereotype. I don’t remember a woman ever coming home with a brand new red convertable and a hair piece because she was having her midlife crisis though…egads

Well for impulse shopping, shoes and clothes are great items that lift your spirits, But compulsive shoppers don’t even buy things they really need or desire, they just lose control.
A friend of mine had a joke posted at her desk that said:
“I read this article that said three signs of stress are: eating too much, impulse buying and driving too fast… Are they kidding? I call that a good day.”
